Fabulous Show

Received tickets for my birthday, a long time Dolly fan I was extremely excited. We both loved the show as did people sat around us we spoke to afterwards. We laughed, we cried, we sang, we danced. The storyline was completely relatable, everyone has been dumped, lost a job, been down and most of all endured Covid. This was about a guy going through that and how his love of music (in this case Dolly) got him through his dark times. Sometimes it felt a bit awkward, but sometimes life is awkward! Dolly was fantastic and never faltered, her portrayal of Dolly was absolutely fabulous. Kevin was hilarious and so full of energy, when he came out in Dolly drag and did his dance number we were ecstatic, great legs Kev! We thoroughly enjoyed it and were only sad we went on the last night and couldn’t see it again. We will definitely go see it again and highly recommend it. Lots of well known Dolly songs, just wished she’d stuck Applejack/coat of many colours in there too. Thank you!!

Just about lasted it out. Only because my partner was with me and was enjoying it. I was not. Rubbish storyline about Covid and a chap being ignored by his boyfriend and Dolly helping him to dump him. It’s a no from me. Dolly did sing a few good songs which was the saving grace.

Sorry. Give this one a miss.

Found the show very slow, very weak story with so few songs. So many seats emptied at the interval and we only stayed to see if it got better. Would not recommend this show, sorry team. On a plus, Dolly herself was superb, would pay to see her do her own show and ditch the play.

dont bother

Not sure what this production is trying to do...what it isnt is a story about Dolly Parton, nor indeed her music - though the sngs that do feature are sung well enough. The story - about a gay man living through a midlife crisis is, as it sounds, very boring. Further, to set this in Covid with all its acompanying miseries is really not what most people want today - surely we're all trying to put that sad episode behind us. The plot and script is ponderous and predictable, though well acted and enthusiastically delivered. It would also be true to say this certainly had not engaged or enthused a younger audience as 90% of people when we went were over 50 and largely female.......
